GOOGLE MAKES IT EASIER TO MOVE DATA TO ITS CLOUD

Ever wondered why suddenly, the fields of data sciences and big data have swamped into the markets in recent years and are in huge demand? How has data management become a profession in its own way? And, why are the data analysts being paid handsome amounts? Let’s look into this framework in detail.

We, as individuals, have our phones all the time, right? All the apps are a click away, and we are constantly clicking pictures, making videos, live streaming, listening to music, using the GPS tracking system, reading up our favorite blogger’s page, snapping our lives away, and then saving them for sweet memories sake. All this tremendous data that we create on a personal scale, let’s multiply it with 7.7 billion, the current population of the world.
Wow! That’s quite a lot of data. But the question is, where is this data being stored? And more importantly, who is managing this abundance amount of data produced by various firms and drawing out meaningful inferences out of it?
With technological advancements, our life is sure easier, but our data is highly unstructured. In order to shelter all this processed information in one place, Google has come to the rescue of millions of entrepreneurs with Google Cloud.

Google Cloud, in lay man’s terms in a platform for firms, to create and run the software. This software is designed aligning to the interests and requirements of the firm; for example, a school wants a system where they can connect with the teachers and students likewise. However, the functional leverage that will be given to the students and the teachers will be very different. The teacher can have access to each student’s Id, can change marks, write reviews about their performance, etc. but vice-versa won’t be allowed. Thus, to create such a user-specific system, Google Cloud can be a helping hand.

In order to deliver the software on time, the developer will require resources like knowledge about computer language, data storage, back-up facility, and of course, deployment facility, which Google Cloud readily offers. After the software comes into play, Google offers a secure and speedy transfer of data to the cloud, which in this case would be student and teacher’s ID, age, name, DOB, course, marks, contact details, etc. The software is exclusively created and run on Google Cloud, and it keeps track of every resource used by the end-user and is charged on a per-second basis.

The biggest reason for Google Cloud gaining popularity amongst developers is its user-friendliness. It saves time and makes the deployment of the software faster, making the customer satisfied.
Agile Solutions has recently been announced as Google Cloudpartners, and thus the cloud follows agile principles and values. It helps the developers to keep their customers ‘first’ and is open to alterations in its sprints. It constantly gives the developer clarity of its product and saves large sums of money as the customer is in the close loop with the developer’s progress.

Such efficiency in software making is hard to achieve on any other rival platform, and thus the cloud has been highly applauded for it. The cherry on the cake is that it is 25% cheaper than the rival Amazon Web in terms of computation and storage cost. The famous American computer programmer Larry Wall has very rightly said, “There is a saying in the software design industry: Good. Fast. Cheap. Pick two”. Thus, what is cheap, fast or good, is what sells.

Along with that, Google Cloud understands the possibilities of high internet leaks, due to small misconfigured cloud buckets. Such cases can crash the stakes of the company and in order to curb them, it is making hefty investments on making features focusing on transparency and flagging. Tool implementation knowledge is also an important tangent that Google plans to work upon in the coming future to limit human errors leading to sensitive information leakage.
Thus, Google Cloud has it all covered under one roof and shall continue to remain a magical wand in every developer’s life, and to beat it remains unchartered territory.

Placement Preparation Initiatives @CSE, NCU

The NorthCap University (NCU) is one of the premier universities in North India. NCU always stands committed for the students, right from the time of their admission till they join their dream companies. Placements play an important role for students by providing suitable opportunities to get them evaluated against industry requirements and enhance their skills for those scenarios. It also aids students in deciding their future directions and achieve career goals.

Computer Science (CSE) Department at the NorthCapUniversity has been supporting students by providing necessary guidance and resources for their pre-placement preparations right from their first year. The students are provided help to crack different interview rounds that include Aptitude Tests, Group Discussions, Technical Interviews, and Personal Interviews. Multiple sessions are organized to make students well versed with the above interview rounds and are guided with the best ways of presenting oneself during these.
The campus placement of students is also a matter of great concern for us at NCU. For this, we conduct Pre-Placement Interviews (PPI) for all pre-final year students, making them fully aware of the complete placement process for different organizations. The industry experts, of which many of them are NCU alumni from renowned companies, conduct face to face mock interviews with students. The students not only discuss their interests, requirements, and expectations but also get an experience to face an interview along with full dress rehearsal before placement drives begin. The feedback given by the industry experts helps students to identify their improvement points and work on those.

In order to enhance the employability of students, NCU has also tied up with Third Party Employability Assessment – ‘Aon CoCubes’. The students starting from their first year take a series of employability assessment tests. The assessment is carried out in various categories such as English Usage Test, Analytical Reasoning Test, Quantitative Ability Test, Written English Test, Coding, Computer Fundamentals, and department-specific Domain Tests. These tests improve their chances to crack the company’s written examination during the placement process. It also helps to generate employment for students with its empanelled companies. Many companies even hire based on the score of pre-assess test for final year students.

General proficiency (GP) classes are conducted on a weekly basis. In these classes, faculty facilitates students by providing material and links to help students to refresh their fundamental concepts of core subjects, especially those which have been taught in previous semesters. Students are also required to take mock aptitude test from well-known websites. These sessions, along with mock interviews, help students not only for campus placement but also help in cracking various competitive exams like CAT, XAT, GATE, etc. Additionally, sessions are delivered by our alumni for final year students before the recruitment process to help students to boost their confidence in the recruitment process.

Experienced faculties conduct placement assistance and several doubt clearing sessions at NCU before the placement drive. These sessions motivate students to revise fundamental concepts and practice questions from previous year company papers. The timely feedback was given by faculty, mentors, and departments to help students to inculcate knowledge and skill before placement process begins.
