An Orientation Workshop of Scheme for Promotion of Academic and
Research Collaboration (SPARC) was organized at India International Centre, New
Delhi By University Grants Commission on 11 June 2019. The event was attended
by a team of six faculty members for various departments, namely Mr Lokesh
Choudhary (CEE), Mr Pankaj Rakheja (ECE), Dr Suman Bhatia (CSE), Dr Pramod
Bhatia (ME), Dr Shilpa Sindhu (SOM) and Ms Garima Lakhmani (SOL).
Sessions from Prof. VS Chauhan, Chairman, EC, NAAC, Prof. A
Goswami, IIT Kharagpur, Dr N Saravanna Kumar, JS-IC, MHRD and Prof. PVM Rao,
Department of Design, IIT Delhi instigated the audience about the need to
introduce schemes like SPARC which aims at improving the research ecosystem of
India’s Higher Educational Institutions by facilitating academic and research
collaborations between Indian Institutions and the best institutions in the
world.
It was followed by an overview on the objectives and funding process
under SPARC scheme. The discussion included the Digital Initiatives taken up by
the MHRD, Govt of India on the concept of AAAs which stands for Anyone,
Anytime, Anywhere to improve the learning experience of students belonging to
different parts of the country. The workshop concluded with a question answer
session where the panel shared their opinions for the questions asked..
